Grooved Tapped Blanks are ductile iron fittings used to seal the end of a grooved pipeline while incorporating a threaded (tapped) outlet. This allows the system to be safely blanked off while still providing a ready-made connection point for instruments, drains, pressure testing, or future branch extensions.
They are supplied in red painted or hot dip galvanised finishes and are widely used in fire protection, HVAC, water distribution and industrial piping systems where flexibility and future adaptability are important.

Grooved tapped blanks are designed to close off the end of a grooved pipeline while still allowing access to the system via an integrated threaded outlet. This makes them ideal for installations where future modification, drainage, venting or instrumentation points may be required without altering the main pipe run.
The grooved connection uses a ductile iron housing and EPDM gasket system, which is compressed around the pipe ends using a mechanical coupling. Once tightened, the assembly forms a secure, pressure-resistant seal that becomes tighter under system pressure.
Manufactured from ductile iron, these fittings provide excellent mechanical strength, impact resistance and long-term durability. They are commonly rated for working pressures up to around 20–35 bar depending on system configuration and coupling selection, making them suitable for demanding mechanical and fire protection applications.
The tapped outlet is typically BSP threaded, allowing direct connection of valves, test points, drains or auxiliary pipework. This adds flexibility to system design, particularly in fire sprinkler systems where inspection and testing points are often required.
Grooved systems significantly reduce installation time compared with welded or threaded alternatives, while also allowing easier maintenance and system modification without hot works or system shutdown.
Finishes are typically red oxide painted for fire protection identification or internal installations, and hot dip galvanised for enhanced corrosion resistance in external or more aggressive environments.
