Grooved Couplings are mechanical fittings used to connect grooved pipe ends quickly and securely without welding, threading or flanging. They form a sealed joint using a rubber gasket housed within a ductile iron coupling body, tightened by bolts to create a pressure-resistant connection.
Available in both rigid and flexible configurations, they are widely used in fire protection, HVAC, water distribution and industrial piping systems where speed of installation and system integrity are essential.
Manufactured from ductile iron and supplied in red painted or hot dip galvanised finishes, they are designed for demanding service conditions and long-term performance.
• Fast, tool-efficient grooved connection system
• Available in rigid or flexible coupling types
• Ductile iron construction for high strength and durability
• Red oxide painted or hot dip galvanised finishes
• EPDM gasket sealing system for leak resistance
• Suitable for fire protection and mechanical services
• Compatible with standard grooved pipe systems
• Designed for pressure-rated applications
Grooved couplings provide a mechanical method of joining grooved pipework by compressing a rubber gasket between two pipe ends, secured within a ductile iron housing. Once the bolts are tightened, the gasket forms a sealed joint capable of handling pressure, vibration and system movement depending on coupling type.
Rigid couplings are designed to create a firm, non-movement joint, similar in performance to a welded or flanged connection, preventing axial or angular movement at the joint. Flexible couplings, by contrast, allow controlled movement for thermal expansion, contraction, vibration absorption and minor misalignment.
Manufactured from ductile iron, these couplings offer excellent mechanical strength, impact resistance and long-term durability. Typical grooved systems are designed to operate at pressures up to approximately 20–35 bar depending on coupling type, pipe specification and system design.
Grooved systems are widely adopted because they significantly reduce installation time compared with traditional welded or threaded systems, while also allowing easier maintenance and modification of pipework layouts without hot works or specialist tooling.
These couplings are extensively used in fire sprinkler systems, HVAC installations, chilled water systems, industrial process lines and general mechanical services where reliable and efficient pipe joining is required.
Finishes are typically red oxide painted for fire protection identification and standard indoor use, or hot dip galvanised for improved corrosion resistance in external or more aggressive environments.
Ideal for fire sprinkler systems, HVAC installations, chilled water systems, water distribution and industrial pipework where fast, reliable grooved jointing is required with either rigid or flexible connection performance.
