Grooved Concentric Reducers are mechanical pipe fittings used to connect two grooved pipe sections of differing diameters while maintaining a common centreline. This allows for a smooth, controlled reduction in pipe size without the need for welding, threading or flanged connections.
Manufactured from ductile iron and supplied in either red painted or hot dip galvanised finishes, they are widely used in fire protection, HVAC, water distribution and industrial piping systems where reliable flow transition and fast installation are essential.
• Concentric design maintains aligned pipe centreline
• Ductile iron construction for high strength and durability
• Grooved ends for fast, mechanical installation
• Red oxide painted or hot dip galvanised finishes
• Suitable for fire protection and mechanical services
• Gasketed joint system for reliable sealing
• Compatible with standard grooved pipe systems
• Pressure-rated for demanding applications
Grooved concentric reducers are designed to join two pipe runs of different diameters along the same centreline, ensuring a smooth and balanced transition in flow. This concentric geometry makes them ideal for vertical pipework and applications where alignment must be maintained to avoid flow disruption.
The grooved connection system uses a rubber gasket seated between pipe ends and secured with a mechanical coupling housing. When tightened, the gasket is compressed to form a secure, leak-resistant seal without the need for hot works or threaded assembly, significantly reducing installation time.
Manufactured from ductile iron, these fittings provide excellent mechanical strength, impact resistance and long-term durability under pressure and vibration. Typical grooved system components are designed for working pressures up to approximately 20–35 bar (depending on size, coupling and system specification), making them suitable for demanding commercial and industrial installations.
Grooved concentric reducers are commonly used in fire sprinkler systems, HVAC networks, chilled water systems, process pipework and general mechanical services where a reliable and compact size transition is required. Their design helps maintain system efficiency while simplifying layout complexity.
Finishes are typically supplied as red oxide painted for fire protection identification and standard indoor use, or hot dip galvanised for enhanced corrosion resistance in external or more aggressive environments.
Ideal for fire sprinkler systems, HVAC installations, chilled water systems, water distribution and industrial pipework where a concentric size reduction is required using a fast, grooved mechanical joint system.
