45° Elbows are essential pipe fittings used to alter the direction of flow by 45 degrees, allowing for smoother directional changes compared to sharper 90° transitions. Manufactured from malleable iron with BSP threaded connections, they provide a strong, reliable and leak-resistant solution for a wide range of pipework systems.
Widely used in fire protection, heating, plumbing and industrial installations, they offer flexibility in system design while maintaining consistent performance.
• 45° angle for smooth directional change
• Manufactured from durable malleable iron
• Female BSPT threaded connections (typical configuration)
• Strong, leak-resistant threaded jointing
• Suitable for water, gas, oil and fire protection systems
• Available in black and galvanised finishes
45° Elbows are designed to connect two lengths of pipe at a 45-degree angle, allowing for a more gradual change in direction compared to 90° fittings. This helps reduce turbulence and pressure loss within the system, making them particularly useful in applications where smoother flow characteristics are beneficial.
Manufactured from malleable cast iron, these fittings offer a combination of strength and ductility, making them well suited to threaded pipe systems. They are typically supplied with BSPT (tapered) female threads, which create a tight, secure seal when installed with appropriate jointing compounds.
Produced to recognised standards such as BS EN 10242, these elbows are designed for consistent performance in demanding environments. Many variants are BSI kitemarked and suitable for use with standard steel pipe systems, ensuring compatibility across a wide range of installations.
Malleable iron 45° elbows are commonly rated for pressures up to approximately 25 bar and can operate across a broad temperature range, typically from sub-zero conditions up to around 300°C depending on specification.
Available in both black (self-colour) and galvanised finishes, they can be selected to suit internal or external environments. Black fittings are commonly used in fire protection systems (often painted after installation), while galvanised options provide enhanced corrosion resistance for water and exposed applications.
Ideal for use in fire sprinkler systems, heating installations, gas and oil pipework, HVAC systems and general mechanical services where a gradual 45° change in pipe direction is required.
